When the cold night comes
I turn on a single light
In a room where no
Words remain.
I sit here all alone
Touching a cup of coffee
That has long since gone cold
Once again
I quietly
Let another
Day go by
People are laughing somewhere while
I speak less and less
Only the familiar empty space
Keeps growing in silence
Beyond the rain window
The city lights begin to sway
And with a single
Thought of you
My heart is soaked again
With every passing
Moment, only familiarity remains
Even a simple phone call
Becomes something
I wait for
It would have been enough just to have
Someone by my side
Even the shortest
Could have kept my heart warm
If only once you asked how i was
If only once you called
My name perhaps
I would not have become
So accustomed to loneliness
Now when the night arrives
I cannot fall asleep
The lights outside and music
My window
Keep spreading through the dark

I look up at the sky
And wait for dawn to come
Holding my breath in silence
Through another sleepless night
Maybe someday, somehow
Someone will knock upon my door
So I remain
In that familiar place
Quietly gathering myself once more

I am gone
A lonely chair will still remain
