Fifty And Free

They said, "Honey
You're getting old
I said, "Baby, watch me unfold
50 and free
Just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Gray in my hair, lines on my face, every
Single one in its place.
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Know myself now like never before
Finally found what
I was made for
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Done with pleasing
Done with small
Standing tall
Through it all
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Younger women
Ask my secret
Honey, live it.
DON'T JUST keep it.
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Wear the red dress
Wear it proud
Say it soft, or say it loud
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Men look twice, I let them look
Life's too short to go by the book
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Raised my children
Built my life, through the joy
Through the strife
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Now it's my time
Finally here
Best just calling
Every year
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Travel calling
Bags are light
Every morning
Feels so right.
50 and free, just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
To the women scared of age
This is just your finest page.
50 and free
Just watch me shine
50 and free
And doing just fine
Beauty deepens
With the years
Every laugh line
Worth the tears
50 and free
Just watch me shine
50 and free
I'm doing just fine
No apologies
For my age
Walking boldly
On this stage.
50 and free
Just watch me shine
50 and free
I'm doing just fine
Called
My mother said
I see it now
WHY YOU GLOWED SO
TOLD ME HOW
50 and free
Just watch me shine
50 and free
I'm doing just fine
So, here
I stand
In my own light
50 years old and burning bright
50 and free
Just watch me shine
50 and free
I'm doing just fine
