You're A Soldier

You're a soldier!
His first toy was a plastic gun.
Daddy smiled, that's my son."
You're a soldier.
You're a soldier.
Do what you're
Told, and you'll be stronger.
You're a soldier.
Enemies are everywhere.
Your little life, who really cares?
Don't you whimper.
Don't you cry.
When duty calls,
You're born to die.
They always told him,
You're a soldier."
You're a soldier.
Take your orders, march ahead.
You're a soldier.
Give your life if that's the order.
You're a soldier.
Don't you think.
Don't be afraid.
Just shoot.
You're a soldier.
Go and die.
Go and die.
You're a soldier.
Do or die.
Do or die.
You're a soldier.
Fire.
Now he's freezing in the snow.
Hungry in a trench below.
Half-starved, but he's still alive.
Keeping them safe while they thrive.
For the rich boys, for the elite.
Clean white shirts and plenty to eat.
Dining from their plates of gold,
While you're sent out in the cold.
They always told him,
You're a soldier."
You're a soldier.
Take your orders, march ahead.
You're a soldier.
Give your life if that's the order.
You're a soldier.
Don't you think.
Don't be afraid.
Just shoot.
You're a soldier.
Go and die.
Go and die.
You're, you're a soldier.
Do or die.
Do or die.
You're a soldier.
Fire.
The general waits for one more star.
Safe from where the bullets are.
Dreaming of his pension plan.
You're just another fighting man.
And somewhere in the freezing night,
Suddenly he sees the light.
No more slogans, no disguise.
Now he knows the ugly truth.
He's nothing but
Cannon fodder.
They always told him,
You're a soldier."
You're a soldier.
Take your orders, march ahead.
You're a soldier.
Give your life if that's the order.
You're a soldier.
Don't you think.
Don't be afraid.
Just shoot.
You're a soldier.
Go and die.
Go and die.
You're, you're a soldier.
Do or die.
Do or die.
You're a soldier.
Fire.
You're a soldier.
You're a soldier.
You're a soldier.
Fire.
