Sea Of Candle Light

Some burn at both ends,
With so much left to do
Some lean toward another wick
And turn one flame to two
Some stand behind a wall of glass,
Some tremble in the draught
Some make it to the morning;
Some barely get to start
A sea of candlelight,
A breath away from gone
All that gold upon a thread,
All those words still left unsaid
Some give the words they waited for
To someone too tired to ask
And something that was never theirs
Is theirs to give at last
Some need to be the brightest,
Whatever feeds the flame
A curtain lifts.
The fire takes.
The gold still looks the same
A sea of candlelight,
A breath away from gone
All that gold upon a thread,
All those words still left unsaid
Some light the way back home.
Some burn the whole house down
Some leave their fire in other flames
Long after burning out
A sea of candlelight,
A breath away from gone
All that gold upon a thread—
And the burning carries on
What kind of candle
