Beyond The Sword

I Watched The Sky
While You Sharpened Steel
I Heard The Wind Change
Beneath Your Voices
We Saw Nothing
That Was The Danger
They Counted Swords And Spoke Of Coming War
I Counted Clouds And Watched The Restless Birds
The Chiefs Grew Louder, Blinded By Their Pride
I Heard The Animals
Fall Strangely Still
One Horse Drew Back Before The Empty Road
Then Smoke Appeared Where No Fire Should Burn
You Called It Fear Because Danger Had No Face
I Called It Warning
And I Spoke
Strength Is More Than The Hand That Strikes
It Lives In The Mind That Waits And Watches
In The Eye That Finds What Others Miss
In The Voice That Speaks Before Disaster
A Sword Can Answer Danger At The Gate
Wisdom Sees It Coming While There Is Time
She Saw What Pride Refused To See
Men Heard The Thunder
She Understood The Storm
We Laughed Until The Tide Began To Climb
Her Warning Brought The Longships Back In Time
I Saw The Early Frost And Stored The Grain
The Full Barns Carried Us Through Snow And Rain
She Chose The Path Before The Storm Came Down
The Children Crossed Before It Sealed The Ground
What We Dismissed As One Woman’s Fear
Became The Reason We Survived The Year
A Sword Can Save The Lives Within Its Reach
Wisdom Saves The Lives That Are Still To Come
Wisdom Waits Until The Pattern Is Clear
Wisdom Speaks While There Is Time To Hear
It Joins The Clouds To The Change In The Tide
The Nervous Horse To The Smoke In The Sky
It Dares To Warn Those Who Laugh At The Truth
It Plans For The Old And Protects The Youth
Steel May Decide Who Survives One Attack
Foresight Keeps Generations Alive
I Do Not Wait Because I Fear
I Wait So I Can See
I Do Not Speak To Win The Hall
Strike When The Battle Has Arrived
Think If You Want Tomorrow
Honor The Sword When Battle Reaches Home
Honor The Mind That Saw It On Its Way
Because She Watched
The Ships Were Not Lost
Because She Planned
The Children Crossed The Frost
Because She Spoke
The Proud Set Pride Aside
Because She Saw Ahead, Her People Survived
A Sword Can Win The Battle At The Door
Wisdom Keeps A People Alive
Long After War
We Counted Victories
I Counted Lives
The Wiser Measure
Is Who Survives
