If mercy's a crime, I'll break
Every law, for grace runs deeper than
Any regime.
If truth is forbidden and hope is a flaw, then
I want to be an outlaw.
They write new rules on the shifting sand, declare
His name contraband, but
I won't bow to the laws of man.
My
King outranks their throne.
They call good evil and wrongness right, but saints stand firm in the fiercest night.
A lamp still burns in the outlaw's fight, for heaven and singing claims its own.
So, let the powers rage and roar,
God's outlaws rise forevermore.
If loving like
Jesus makes me an outlaw, then cross my name into that old roster.
